Physical Pet Passport
What a physical pet passport is and how PadsPass helps you organize the same records digitally
A physical “pet passport” (where offered by a destination or region) is usually a booklet or document set that keeps your pet’s ID and travel health records in one place.
PadsPass’s Digital Pet Passport (DPP) can help you organize and track the key details and documents that are commonly recorded in a physical pet passport—so you can quickly reference what you have and what you may still need for your trip.
It may include:
- Pet identification: name, species/breed, sex, date of birth (or approximate age), and microchip number
- Pet parent details: name and contact information
- Veterinary details: clinic/provider contact information (if included by the issuing authority)
- Vaccination history: especially rabies (vaccine product, date given, and validity/booster dates)
- Tests or treatments (when required): e.g., rabies titer results or parasite treatments, depending on the destination
- Official stamps/endorsements (when applicable): signatures/stamps from a licensed veterinarian and/or government authority
Important notes:
- Availability varies by destination. Some regions (including parts of Europe) use official pet passports; many others require different documents (often a health certificate plus vaccination records).
- Requirements can change and may vary by airline, route, and destination. Confirm current rules with your airline and the destination’s official animal import authority, and consult your licensed veterinarian for pet-specific guidance.
