DAVCIM
What is a DACVIM and is it licensed?
DACVIM stands for Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
This credential is awarded to veterinarians who have completed advanced specialty training in internal medicine and passed a rigorous board certification process.
Veterinarians with this title are considered specialists in one of several areas: small animal internal medicine, large animal internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, or oncology.
You’ll typically see "DACVIM" listed after a DVM or VMD on your pet’s medical records if the veterinarian is licensed and also board-certified in a specific field of internal medicine.
Similar to a DVM they need to keep their license current in order to be considered licensed.
